NEW YORK: Nicolas Sarkozy's former wife Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz has tied the knot with Morocco-born PR guru Richard Attias in New York, a month after the French President married model-turned-singer Carla Bruni.

The wedding took place in Rainbow Room at Manhattan's Rockefeller Centre, one of the best known venues in the city, on Sunday night and it was followed by a reception of around 150 guests, according to media reports.

The marriage is 50-year-old Cecilia's third and the first for the 48-year-old Attias, the man she left the French President for.

Rumours have been doing the rounds about the couple's wedding and earlier this month Italian fashion house Versace had said that the couple would get married and "have chosen to wear Versace for happy occasion of their wedding".

Sarkozy and Cecilia had announced their divorce in October last year. One month later, the French President met Bruni and carried out a highly publicised courtship that ended with their marriage in early February.

Like Bruni, Cecilia is also a former fashion model. In 2005, when Sarkozy was Interior Minister, she had left him for Attias, following him to Cannes and New York.

She returned to Sarkozy in 2006 and was at his side during his successful campaign for the presidency.

Even in a book published after her divorce, Cecilia described Attias as "the great love" of her life.
