NEW DELHI: After providing 33% reservation to women in the party organisation, the BJP sought to push its advantage further on Monday by demanding the introduction of the women’s reservation bill in parliament. Reacting to the president’s address in the Rajya Sabha, BJP president and MP Rajnath Singh said the president as well as the UPA chairperson were women, yet there was no mention of women or the women’s bill in her address.

Singh said he doubted if the government intended to bring the bill at all. “We promise unconditional support to the bill if the government brings it in parliament,” he said.
