The ‘mast mast’ girl set a few hearts racing again on Friday, but this time she failed to win any. Residents of Skylark Apartments at Union Park, Khar (west), watched in disgust as the actor allegedly threw tantrums at a security guard of the society.
She came close to hitting on-duty watchman Ramji Yadav, who had merely requested her driver not to park in the society parking lot, when witnesses intervened. Residents said they were aghast hearing her thr-eaten the guard that she would level molestation charges against him.
The actor had taken her daughter for tutorial classes at Skylark Apartments around 4.30pm on February 22.
“The society rules do not allow visitors to park inside our premises. When Raveena’s driver refused to take the car out, Ramji was taking down its number.
Raveena rushed at him, shoved him and raised her hand to strike, but was stopped by two of our society members,” said senior citizen Greta Fernandes, one of the witnesses and a ground-floor resident at Skylark Apartments.
“She pushed me hard, and she was screaming at me. She got angry because I was noting down the number of her car,” said Ramji.
In the presence of Kenny Menzies, secretary of the society, and two residents Greta and Bosco Fernandes, Raveena threatened level charges of molestation against Ramji. “She told Ramji that she would teach him a lesson. It is unimaginable that an actor of her stature would stoop so low, and scream and rant over such a trivial matter,” said Bosco.
According to witnesses, Raveena kept asking the watchman how could a society, which houses a tutorial class, not allow visitors to park their cars inside the premises.
“She was so obdurate that she didn’t even realise that it was pointless to pose these questions to a security guard. There was no reason for her to behave so badly with a guard, who was merely performing his duty,” said Menzies.
A non-cognisable offence has been registered against Raveena at Khar police station. Residents have stated in their complaint that Ramji had been serving the society for a long time, and his track record was immaculate.
The complaint read: “Raveena Tandon has threatened to file false charges of molestation with the boast and support of her acting background.
It appears that this kind of threat is becoming common for any female, who wishes to take revenge on males. You are requested to take appropriate action.”
“Raveena got into an argument with the watchman over car parking issue. The watchman in his complaint has alleged that she had shoved him hard,” said senior inspector Ajit Sawant of Khar police station.
DNA repeatedly tried to contact Raveena, but she kept on rejecting the calls. This scribe, however, got an anonymous call from a woman, who claimed to be a resident of Skylark Apartments. She said that allegations made by the residents against Raveena “were all rubbish”.
Wonder why the actor herself did not say this — coming from her it would have been more credible. Everyone wants to hear it from the horse’s mouth, Raveena.
Post script: The actor called up this corr-espondent around 11pm, only to say, “I have no comment to make on this issue.”
