MUMBAI: Police commissioner DN Jadhav now has the onerous task of investigating his superior officer, Maharashtra director-general of police PS Pasricha.

In a complaint filed before Jadhav on Wednesday, city developer Dharamraj Ramnarayan ‘Bacchi’ Singh said he had information that he was being harassed mentally and physically at the instance of the DGP.

Singh had earlier moved the Bombay High Court claiming that he was arrested by encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar to implicate rival encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma.

The court directed him on February 11, 2008, to approach Jadhav with his complaint.

The court said: “If Singh has any grievance against the police officers in whose custody he was during the period of investigation, he may make a detailed complaint to the commissioner of police. The commissioner is expected to examine the complaint in all its seriousness.”

In his complaint to Jadhav, Singh said: “During my custodial interrogation I overheard a conversation between police officers who stated that the physical and mental harassment to me was being meted out as the director-general of police believed that I and inspector Pradeep Sharma were responsible for leaking out to a television news channel the factual details regarding the properties owned by Pasricha that were in stark disproportion to his known sources of income.”
