NEW DELHI: A special court on Wednesday issued fresh production warrant against underworld don Abu Salem for March 10, in an extortion case.

Additional Session Judge Ravinder Kaur issued fresh production warrant against Salem as the Mumbai police failed to produce him in connection with Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case registered in the Capital.

Salem was extradited from Portugal in 2005 and is currently lodged in Mumbai's Arthur road jail in connection with various cases including 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case.

He is also allegedly accused of extortion of Rs five crore from a south Delhi-based contracter in 2002. He was declared a proclaimed offender in the six-year-old case involving five of his alleged syndicate members who were arrested for threatening the contracter Ashok Gupta to extort money from him.

The court earlier allowed Delhi police to quiz the gangster in the case registered under MCOCA. Police had already filed a chargesheet against the other five accused Pawan Kumar Mittal,Sajjan Soni, Majid Khan, Mohammed Ashraf and Chanchal Mehta.
