JAMAICA: Umpire Steve Bucknor, who angered India with his decisions in Sydney Test, said he will continue his career as umpire in international matches if International Cricket Council (ICC) provides him the opportunity.
''If I'm asked to continue umpiring, I'm going to think seriously about continuing. I would not wish to go on beyond another year. If I'm asked to go on I would accept, but not beyond another year,'' Bucknor said during the Carib Beer Series game between Jamaica and Guyana at Sabina Park.
Bucknor was removed after the Sydney Test between Australia and India for his consistent exhibition of poor umpiring in the Test. He was later replaced by New Zealand umpire Billy Bowden for the third Test between Australia and India in Perth which India won by 72 runs.
''I'm in reasonably good physical condition, seeing reasonably well. So I'll go on until I think it is necessary,'' he added.
His next stint in the international arena will be in the series between Bangladesh and South Africa next month.
