NEW DELHI: Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma was on Wednesday added to the Indian squad for the first cricket Test match against Pakistan starting on Thursday as cover for injuries to the pace duo of S Sreesanth and RP Singh.

The Delhi pacer's induction comes a day after Munaf Patel was brought into the side following the twin injury blows suffered during the five-match one-day series that concluded last week.

While RP Singh is nursing a thigh strain, Sreesanth is recuperating from a shoulder injury sustained during the final ODI in Jaipur on Sunday.

"Ishant Sharma has been asked to join the team for the first Test match at Delhi in addition to Munaf Patel," the BCCI said in a statement.

The right-arm medium pacer has one Test wicket to his credit in the lone match he has played so far, against Bangladesh this year in May.
