College student mowed down by Blueline bus

A teenaged college girl on Monday became the 105th victim of the Blueline menace in the capital after she was mowed down by a speeding bus, police said.

NEW DELHI: A teenaged college girl on Monday became the 105th victim of the Blueline menace in the capital after she was mowed down by a speeding bus, police said.
    
Pearl Gupta (17), a first-year-student of Aditi College, was killed when the bus, which plies between Bawana and Old Delhi Railway station, ran over her outside her college in Bawana in outer Delhi, they said.
    
The incident took place when Pearl and her two friends were getting down from a DTC bus and a speeding motorcycle hit her.
    
While two of her friends fell on the pavement, Pearl fell on the road and was run over by the speeding bus, police said.
    
All three were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Pearl brought dead.
    
Infuriated over the incident, scores of students engaged in violence, smashing the windows of the "killer" bus. Students also blocked traffic for sometime.
    
The driver of the bus is absconding and efforts are on to nab him,  police added.
