ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Supreme Court is expected to resume a hearing into challenges to President Pervez Musharraf’’s election victory this week and could reach a decision by the weekend.
Attorney General Malik Adul Qayyum said the court would most likely resume its hearing into challenges against Musharraf’’s candidacy on Wednesday and he was hopeful the case would be decided by the weekend, the Daily Times reported.
Meanwhile, a group of Commonwealth foreign ministers gathered in London on Monday to discuss possible sanctions against Pakistan.
Pakistan was previously suspended from the Commonwealth in 1999, after army general Musharraf seized power. It was reinstated in 2004.
