KATHMANDU: More than 400 employees working at various government offices, local bodies and corporations in Saptari district of southern Nepal have tendered their joint resignation to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala alleging lack of security.
The resignation comes as various armed groups continued abduction and killing of government staff in Terai districts.
Initially the employees had tried to send the resignation through the chief district officer of Saptari.
But as he refused to accept their resignation letter, they have sent it through post office to the Prime Minister.
The government employees had been launching agitation after the murder of Prabhu Narayan Yadav, an official of Saptari District Development Committee, a fortnight ago.
They accused the government of keeping quiet over the growing insecurity caused by various armed and criminal groups in the Terai.
