KOLKATA: As the CBI is close to exhuming the body of Rizwanur Rehman, whose mysterious death sparked a national outcry, for a second post-mortem, his brother Rukbanur Rehman demanded police posting on Sunday at the burial ground.

"As there is a chance of exhuming the body for post- mortem for the second time, to keep the place unguarded is not right for the sake of investigation,'' Rukbanur said after his younger brother's 'Chalisma' (ritual mourning on the 40th day of death) Sunday.

He said his family had spoken to "higher authorities", but nothing had been done so far. ''The government should take immediate action on guarding the place.''

Meanwhile, Rizwanur's death was mourned on its 40th day by his immediate and distant relatives as well as people cutting across all religions at the cemetery. The people read from the scriptures of the Bible, the Koran and the Gita, President of the All-India Minority Forum Idris Ali said.

Meanwhile, Alpana Joli, who has claimed to have received the controversial SMS 'Mera jane ke bad awaz uthana', said she had got the SMS from Rizwanur's cell phone between 10 am and 11 am on September 21.

''I didn't consider it to be that important and I deleted the message," Joli said.

"I got the news of Rizwanur's death at three pm when I was in the class at Arena Multimedia," Jolly said.

She said she had given all details to the CID during interrogation and was prepared to repeat them to the CBI which had contacted her.

"I will help CBI so that the truth comes out,'' Jolly said.

Rizwanur, who married city businessman Ashok Todi's daughter Priyanka on August 18 against the wishes of the bride's father, was mysteriously found dead on railway tracks on September 21.

The state government, which had initially ordered a CID probe into the incident on September 24, later instituted a judicial probe three days after Rizwanur's death caused a nationwide outcry.

The judicial probe was, however, withdrawn on October 25 after the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI probe.

The state government removed five police officers, including the Police Commissioner and two deputy commissioners on October 17, a day after Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI probe into Rizwanur's mysterious death on a petition by his family members.
