One-day traffic blues for town

Expecting heavy rush for the One Day International (Day-night) between India and Australia to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Churchgate, on Wednesday, the city traffic police have announced major changes in regular traffic plans.

According to traffic advisory, considerable congestion is expected on NS Road (Marine Drive), MK Road (Queen’s Road) and other surrounding area of the stadium. Moreover, concretisation work is in progress on ‘E’ road.

The traffic branch announced that ‘D’ Road will be made one-way from its junction with NS Road(Marine Drive) to junction with ‘E’ Road) from 12 noon to 8 pm. It will be one-way in reverse direction  from 8 pm to 12 midnight.

Similarly ‘C’ Road has been declared one-way from its junction with E Road to its junction with Marine Drive from 12 noon to 8 pm. E Road will be one-way from its junction with ‘D’ Road to its junction with ‘C’ Road between 12 noon to 8 pm.

Parking of vehicles will be prohibited on both sides of ‘D’, ‘C’, ‘E’ roads  and  eastern side of NS Road from Meghdoot building to Air India Junction from 10 am to 12 midnight.

Parking has also been prohibited along both the sides of Queen’s Road from its junction with Anandilal Poddar Marg to its junction with VN Road (Church gate junction) from 10 am to 12 midnight.

Motorists has been allowed angular parking on the promenade of Marine Drive between “G” Road and Air India Building Junction from 10 am to 12 midnight. Angular Parking has also been permitted on service road on eastern side of NS Road between Taraporevala Aquarium and Parsee Gymkhana from 10 am to 12 midnight.

‘U’ turn will not be permitted from any gap on Queen’s Road from 10 am to 12 midnight. Adequate numbers of traffic police personnel will be posted to guide the motorists and to regulate traffic.

“The public is requested to observe the above regulations in everybody’s interest and to extend their fullest co-operation in the true spirit of sportsmanship for making the event a grand success,” said a traffic branch official.
