Raul wants family to accompany her on jaunt

Mayor Shubha Raul, who is slated to fly to the city in Israel for the 25th Mayor’s Conference organised by the Jerusalem municipality, wants her husband Umesh and two daughters to accompany her for the trip.

Mayor Shubha Raul, who is slated to fly to the city in Israel for the 25th Mayor’s Conference organised by the Jerusalem municipality, wants her husband Umesh and two daughters to accompany her for the trip. 

Speaking to DNA, Raul said, “Jerusalem is a city rich in culture and agro business. My husband, being a horticultural manager with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is keen to visit the city. I will bear the expenses of their travel.”      

Raul and additional municipal commissioner Kishore Gajbhiye have already got requisite clearances from the government and the corporation to represent the city in the event. Issues like urban problems, development and conservation will be discussed at length by various leaders across the world during the five-day tour.

The lodging and accommodation expenses for Raul, the only one officially invited, will be borne by the organisers while, those of Gajbhiye will be borne by the BMC.
While Raul’s two daughters, Tanvi, 15 and Mayuri, 12, will tour with her for the first time, Umesh has previously accompanied her to New York in June.

Raul said she will take a final decision on whether to take her family along
on Thursday. Umesh was currently on an official visit to Dehradun and was expected to return to the city on October 12.
