AMETHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday exhorted party men to sink their differences and work unitedly for party's success in next Lok Sabha elections.

The upcoming polls would be important not only for the country but also for Uttar Pradesh and, therefore, Congressmen should sink their differences and put up a united fight, he said.

Addressing party workers here on the second day of his 4-day visit to his Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, Gandhi asked Congressmen to go masses and win their trust.

Party workers should reach out to dalits, backwards, minorities and other deprived sections and address their problems, the young Congress MP said.

"Now is the time to strengthen Congress, especially in villages where the soul of the country is," he said adding overall development of the country was possible only through a strong Congress.

Turning to Uttar Pradesh, he said the power supply in the state could improve only if Congress returned to power in the state.

Gandhi inaugurated five roads, some buildings and a computer room and laid the foundation stone of some roads in his constituency.

Addressing the functions, he promised to develop Amethi as an educational hub.

Gandhi, however, lamented 'pitiable' condition of schools and colleges in his constituency.

The young MP met members of his party's core group and discussed matters relating to the party and developmental work in his constituency.
