Bomb threat aboard Kingfisher Airlines flight

MUMBAI: A Guwahati-Mumbai Kingfisher Airlines flight carrying 80 passengers was searched on Saturday on landing at the city airport following an anonymous phone call which said explosives was planted on the aircraft, airport authorities said.

The call turned out be hoax as no explosive material was found after a thorough search.

A Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson said the company's call centre in Delhi got a call from an unidentified person after the flight had departed from Guwahati in the afternoon that explosives were kept in the aircraft.

All the passengers on board the aircraft were safely evacuated and the flight taken to a secluded spot where a team from the bomb squad carried out search operations, CISF Commandant Sanjay Prakash said.

The aircraft took off for Indore at 8:10 pm after the bomb squad finished its checking, the airlines spokesperson said adding the flight to Indore was delayed by one hour and 25 minutes due to the hoax call.
