NEW DELHI: Vijay Mallya-promoted United Breweries plans to launch by Diwali a slew of new products, including brands from the newly-acquired Whyte & Mackay, intended to strengthen its share in domestic alcoholic beverage market.

Speaking on the sidelines of CII Marketing Summit here on Tuesday, UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya said the company will launch brands from Whyte and Mackay portfolio, including Dalomore and Isle of Jura, and will leverage on the acquisition of the Scottish distiller.

"Whyte and Mackay has got some strong and beautiful brands that have not been promoted properly, which we will be doing shortly," Mallya said.

He said UB Group's acquisition of the international liquor firm was a strategic one and will help it in establishing international presence, while the latter's products could benefit through the distribution network of UB in India.

"What will set us apart from the rest is that we have breweries across and a strong sales network," Mallya added.

He said UB would also launch another range of liquor called 'Poison' powered with rum and vodka targeted at youth and also introduce a 'Kingfisher Ultra' beer.

"Poison will be young, daring and controversial powered by rum and vodka which create a brand personality," he said, adding that the new beer brand would be an answer to the international brands like Budweiser and Carlsburg.
