JUNAGADH: A Pakistani couple, who shifted here from Surat a few days ago, has been arrested for overstaying, police said.

Though nothing suspicious about them has emerged as yet, preliminary probe revealed that the couple had stayed in Surat before shifting to Junagadh a few days ago, police said.

They were identified as Warkat Ali Parmar (33) and his wife Rukhsana (31), both residents of Karachi, and were arrested on Thursday.

Officials said probe revealed that the woman had come to India in April 2006 on a 45-day visa to visit Hyderabad, but instead went to Surat to a relative's house where she gave birth to a child.

Her husband took the same route in March this year and on entering India, instead of going to Hyderabad, went to Surat and picked his wife and both came to another relative's house in Junagadh.

The officials have not found them to be involved in anything objectionable so far. However, a probe has been initiated against the couple under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act.
