NEW DELHI: Pakistan's exiled former premier Nawaz Sharif has ruled out any deal on his return to politics with President Pervez Musharraf, who he said "spared no effort" to stop him from return to Islamabad.

Sharif said Musharraf's emissaries met him in Saudi Arabia and London in the past five years with different proposals, including unifying the factions of his Pakistan Muslim League (PML).

"There is nothing to discuss with him (Musharraf)," Sharif said.

"A man who is guilty of abrogating the Constitution, a man who is guilty of overthrowing an elected government, a man who is guilty of removing the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Do you think he should be talked to," he asked.

Sharif said it would be very immoral to strike any deal or even hold any negotiations with "usurpers and dictators".

The former Pakistan premier said the emissaries of Musharraf had approached him with proposals to unify the two factions of the PML, one of which is led by Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and has extended support to the President.

"I think that doesn't make any sense. Our party has been struggling for restoration of democracy, restoration of the constitution 1973. And the other faction joined hands with Musharraf and supporting dictatorship," he said.

Sharif said Musharraf spared no effort in reaching out to Saudis or others to stop him from returning to Pakistan.

In a separate interview, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto said she would "very much" like to see the US linking financial and military assistance to Pakistan with restoration of democracy and holding of elections that are free and fair and open to all political parties.
