Bharti Teletech aims to manufacture 30 mn phones by 2010

NEW DELHI: Bharti Teletech, manufacturers and distributors of telecom and allied products, on Tuesday said it is targeting to manufacture 10 million phones in the next three years.

The company's unit at Ludhiana, which manufactures telephone instruments under Beetel and GE brand, crossed 20 million mark on Tuesday, it said in a statement here.

"The first 10 million telephones were manufactured in 16 years, the next 10 million were manufactured in just 4 years and 3 months. The company plans to manufacture the next 10 million phones by 2010, thereby enhancing its productivity even further," it said.

Apart from catering to the domestic market, the facility has also exported over a million telephones in the last two years to 30 countries.

Bharti Teletech has a market share of about 60 per cent in the domestic market and offers over 45 models across all segments in the price range of Rs 295-3,795, the statement said.

The company has recently been awarded the "Excellence in manufacturing awar Telecom Equipment Manufacturers' Association (TEMA), it added.
