BJP seeks CBI probe into sale of Wakf properties

State BJP spokesman, Madhav Bhandari on Thursday demanded a CBI probe and registering of criminal cases against all those involved in the alleged irregularities involving 25 properties of State Wakf Board. Speaking to newspersons here at the state party office here, he dared Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to sack controversial Minister for Aukaf, Anees Ahmed.

Bhandari said if the Chief Minister does not sack Ahmed, it will proves that either Ahmed is telling the truth or is more powerful than Deshmukh.

Justifying the demand for a CBI probe, Bhandari said an impartial investigation is not possible as one of the Wakf properties’ in Aurangabad was bought at a throwaway price by Nirman Bharti Land Mark Pvt. Ltd, which involves MLC Dilip Deshmukh, brother of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Bhandari added that as per the Central Wakf Board Act, 1995, land belonging to the Wakf Board cannot be sold or transferred under any circumstances.

Commenting upon Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh’s clarification that the Supreme Court had ruled that the land did not belong to the Wakf Board, Bhandari said that the land record papers attached by MLC Dilip Deshmukh to the land sale deed of 2005, in respect of survey numbers 91 and 83 clearly point out that the land title is ‘Enaam’ and belonged to one Mohammad Pasha.

The controversial plot on the Paithan Gate Road now houses the government-owned Marathwada regional library.
