JERUSALEM: The wife of the jailed assassin of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin is expecting a boy, a press report said on Tuesday, after the couple were granted the privilege of conjugal visits.

Larissa Trimbobler, who married Yigal Amir by proxy, is expecting her baby to be born later this summer, the mass-selling Yediot Aharonot said, quoting members of the Amir family.

The relatives were also quoted as saying they hoped the traditional Jewish circumcision ceremony would take place in the high security prison were Amir is incarcerated so the jailed killer can attend.

Amir was finally granted conjugal rights with his wife, a divorced mother-of-four, after Israel's internal security agency, the Shin Beth, refused for years.

Amir was jailed for life for the murder of Rabin in 1995 at a peace rally in Tel Aviv and is kept in solitary confinement in Beersheva prison in southern Israel, where he is under round-the-clock camera surveillance.
