Foreign varsities to tie-up with Bihar institutes

Offers came from Edinburgh, UK, and Iowa State, USA

PATNA: The University of Edinburgh, UK and the Iowa State University, USA have made offers for a tie-up with some of the technical institutes of Bihar for forging new initiatives in the field of technical education.

Disclosing the offers from internationally acclaimed universities, Bihar’s principal secretary of science and technology department, Ajay Kumar Thakur said that the tie-ups would not only add more credibility to the degrees offered to the students here but it would also provide some sort of international branding to it, making it more visible in the employment market.

Thakur's department had been entrusted with the task to process the offers from the foreign universities. The emeritus professor, University of Edinburgh, B Sinha, has written a letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressing his desire to bring a delegation from his university for holding discussions on the issue of tie-ups which will help raise the standard of education in the field of engineering, IT, management and public health. The delegation would be led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International Affairs), University of Edinburgh.
