JAIPUR: Rajasthan police filed an FIR on Wednesday against Gurjar leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla for conspiracy during the agitation to press for the Scheduled Tribe status for the community. An FIR was filed against Bainsla and four other Gurjar leaders for murder and conspiracy to murder.

DNA’s investigation has also found that Bainsla, who took on the might of the Vasundhara Raje Government during the violent protest, is a BJP man and vice-president of the Ex-Servicemen cell of the Rajasthan unit of the saffron party.

Party sources said that Bainsla used to attend party cell’s meetings regularly at the state headquarters of the BJP. He is also believed to be close to several party bigwigs.

Spokesman of the state unit of the BJP Kailash Nath Bhatt said, “Bainsla was appointed vice-president of the Ex-Servicemen cell of the party in 2003. According to our records, he is still a member of the cell.”

Prakash Javdekar, the national spokesman of the BJP, said he had no knowledge about Bainsla being a BJP man.
