Train services in Rajasthan continue to be disrupted

JAIPUR: Rail services in some parts of Rajasthan were affected on Thursday due to large scale track damage on the Kota and Sawaimadhopur section in the wake of the violence over the Scheduled Tribe quota issue.

Most of the trains between Jaipur-Mumbai and Jaipur-Madhya Pradesh were hit by the track damage, a north-west railway spokesman said.

The Bandra express between Mumbai-Jaipur was stopped before Kota-Sawaimadhopur railway station, and the same train could not go back unless it arrives in Jaipur.

Jaipur-Jabalpur train could not proceed, he said, adding others trains would also either be cancelled or diverted if possible, he said.

Northwest railways has so far cancelled 10 trains and diverted routes of 11 trains in last three days.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (rsrtc) has deferred its bus operations on Jaipur-Kota-Jhalawar, Jaipur-Delhi, Jaipur-Agra, Jaipur-Sikar and other routes linked with the troubled routes, a spokesman said.

However, some private bus operators were running a few buses through Rewari route.

Barring the Jaipur-Jodhpur routes, almost every rail and bus routes are disrupted or stopped.

Stranded tourists thronged the Sanganer airport where there was no seat on any outbound flight, an official said.

Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Go-Air, Kingfisher, and Air Deccan flights are booked for next two days, he said.
