NEW DELHI: Broadcast regulator TRAI on Tuesday directed all cable operators in the country to carry Doordarshan channels on their networks.

As per Prasar Bharti's notifications, cable operators have to carry certain Doordarshan channels in prime band while a few other channels in non-prime band, TRAI said in a statement here.

The regulator said some cable operators are not following the directions which results either in the poor reception of these channels or totally depriving the viewers from the public broadcaster's channels.

In order to ensure adherence with the provisions of the Cable Act by cable operators and to protect the interests of the viewers in particular, TRAI has directed all the cable operators to strictly follow these notifications of Prasar Bharati, the statement said.
