NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the Centre and a news channel on a petition filed by controversial aspiring actress of Bollywood, Jahnavi Kapoor alleging that her obscene visuals were telecast by the channel.

Justice S Murlidhar while issuing notice sought explanation from the government on steps taken by the Centre for regulating and preventing obscene visuals being telecast by the electronic media.

"We have been told numerous times that the government has been doing something about it but nothing substantial has come out so far," Justice Murlidhar said.

Kapoor had on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking action against a news channel for telecasting her alleged obscene visuals.

Jahnavi, who hogged the limelight when she tried to commit suicide outside Amitabh Bachchan's house on the day of his son's marriage, had alleged that news channel had violated her fundamental right to privacy.

Jahnavi sought action against the channel and pleaded for its cancellation of license.

The whole matter pertains to the telecast of the visuals of the struggling actress by India TV on May 7 showing her allegedly in scantily clad clothes in her house in Mumbai.
