AHMEDABAD: Gujarat CID has found evidence that one of the three IPS officers arrested in the fake encounter case, was present when the body of Sohrabuddin Sheikh's wife, Kausarbi was being disposed of.

"We have evidence that one of the arrested officers was personally present when Kausarbi's body was being disposed of," a CID source said on Monday.

The source, however, refused to divulge the name of the officer who was present. He did not give any details of the evidence either.

When asked further, the official said: "I can't say anything more at this juncture."

Kausarbi was murdered and her body burnt a few days after her husband was killed in a fake encounter. IPS officers DG Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Dineshkumar MN from Rajasthan were arrested in connection with the fake encounter.

Sohrabuddin's brother Rababuddin had said in his application to the Supreme Court that he feared Kausarbi was killed and her remains dispersed in a farm in Ilol village in Banaskantha district of Gujarat which is the home town of arrested IPS officer DG Vanzara.

The application prompted the CID to carry out digging operations in the farm of Vanzara.
