Lensmen scuffle with Priyanka's guards

SHIMLA: News photographers covering Priyanka Gandhi's visit on Friday had a scuffle with Special Protection Group commandos who objected to cameramen of two dailies breaching her security by moving too close to her car and taking snaps.

The commandos caught the lensmen snatched their cameras and took away the memory cards for breaching security by jumping in front of her car which was struck briefly in a traffic jam near Tuttikondi locality here, police sources said.

Priyanka was returning to Delhi after having come to Shimla on Tuesday last with her husband Robert Vadra and children on a brief sojourn to escape the scorching heat of the national capital.

The SPG men asked the local police to verify the antecedents of the lensmen, the sources said.

The two lensmen later gave a written complaint in the Balluganj police station against Priyanka's security men.

Superintendent of Police of Shimla Anand Pratap Singh told PTI that he had a talk with a senior SPF official about the incident who promised to return the memory cards to the lensmen after erasing data pertaining to security movement of Priyanka.
