KOLKATA: West Bengal, especially the suburbs around state capital  Kolkata, is fast becoming the hub for “desi” pornographic business.

In a startling revelation it has been found that youngsters from established families, influential and educated people are voluntarily participating in the flesh trade.

The CID and the Detective Department of the West Bengal police are baffled following the revelation that the operators of the trade no more hire professional sex workers or use hidden cameras in hotel rooms to shoot the “desi” pornographic movies.

Educated people, including doctors, small businessmen and young college students sometimes volunteer to take part in the movies in the lure of easy money.

This came to light following the investigation of the recent murder of Jayanta Bag, a medical practitioner and his daughter at Jagacha in Howrah district.

Investigations have revealed that Bag, along with his wife and sister-in-law, were involved in a pornographic trade racket. He used to carry out illegal abortions of women and used to clandestinely take their pictures with the help of his mobile camera.

CID officials have recovered several pictures which reveal that apart from shooting, Bag, his wife and his sister-in-law were active participants in such pornographic movies. Subsequent arrests have also exposed that Bag took into confidence many women to act in such films, whose abortion he had conducted earlier.

According to a CID official, many college-going students willingly participate in the sleazy business and often young couples venture into the same for sheer amusement or fun.

According to Gyanwant Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) of Kolkata police, cops often conduct raids in various resorts in the city notorious for sleazy business.

“Sometimes, we seize the compact discs from local markets and track the actors and those involved in it,” Singh said.
