Venkaiah Naidu escapes unhurt as chopper makes bumpy landing

LUCKNOW: Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu had a narrow escape on Sunday when the hydraulic system of the helicopter in which he was travelling failed and it made a bumpy landing at Amausi airport.

The helicopter developed the problem about 30 nautical miles from here but the pilot managed to bring it to the airport, airport sources said.

However, it landed some distance away from the runway on muddy ground, the sources said.

Naidu, who is in Uttar Pradesh to campaign for his party in the ongoig assembly polls, was safe, the sources said.

He was on his way here from Gorakhpur when the helicopter developed the problem.
