NEW DELHI: In the second phase of his campaigning, Rahul Gandhi will be going easy on his campaign and will be seen in a relatively constrained and controlled mode. This comes after the home ministry issued a warning to the Congress MP to abide by security norms during his road shows.

“Rahul is a spontaneous man. He connects with people with such ease that sometimes he doesn’t think about security issues. But after this warning we are going to make sure that security norms are followed to the letter,” a source said.

The second phase of campaigning is slated from April 1 to April 5 and Rahul is scheduled to travel to Agra, Kanpur, Bulandsheher, Lalitpur and Jhansi amongst other places. “There will be a fixed plan and we will only abide by that. We will not have any impromptu stops anywhere. Of course the rest of the plan will still depend on what Rahul wants,” the source added.

Rahul is expected to be surrounded by security at all times and will not be allowed to shake hands and hug people. In fact, all garlands that he will receive will only be at scheduled meeting places and all flowers and garlands will have to go through the mandatory security check.

While the road shows will continue in some areas, in others he will campaign by holding small meetings. His daily shows will finish before sundown and he will not be mingling as freely as he was doing in his recently concluded road show.
