KOLKATA: The Calcutta High Court has rejected a petition seeking permission to use microphones during a six-day yoga camp of Baba Ram Dev starting March 21.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice SS Nijjar and Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya rejected the petition on Friday by the Biswa Jagriti Mission, challenging a notice issued by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.

In the notice issued on March 6, the Board had imposed restrictions on using microphones from March 13, in view of the Higher Secondary examinations in the state.

The petitioner's counsel argued that the programme was fixed long ago and they had got permission from the police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for using the microphones, as thosands of participants are expected to take part in the camp.

The Biswa Jagriti Mission is hosting the yoga camp from at Rabindra Sarobar stadium.
