Roy promoted as DG in major reshuffle

In one of the major reshuffles in the Maharashtra Police in the recent past, Mumbai Commissioner of Police AN Roy has been promoted as Director General of Police and would be posted as Managing Director of Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation. Earlier, he was tipped to take charge as DG (Home Guard) but now S Chakravorty would take that charge instead.

SPS Yadav has been posted as chief of the State Crime Investigation Department (CID). Yadav takes over from Jayant Umranikar, who has been posted as Commissioner of Police (Pune City), in place of Dhananjay Jadhav. Meanwhile, K. Subramaniam will be taking charge as the Commissioner of Nagpur city. Hassan Gaffoor who came back from a Central deputation posting has been posted as Additional Director General of Police (Training) and Additional DGP P N Dixit has been given the charge of Additional DGP (State Human Right Commission). This post was lying vacant after Sunil Vaidya retired in October last year.

DN Jadhav has already been posted as Commissioner of Police,  Mumbai and will take the charge from outgoing Police Commissioner A N Roy. It may be noted that the state police force has four posts of the Director Generals of Police: DG (Maharashtra) — who heads the entire force, DG (Anti Corruption Bureau), DG (Home Guards) and DG (Housing). Of these four, two have got new officers

while Dr. P S Pasricha continues to be DG (Maharashtra) and J D Virkar continues to be DG (Anti Corruption Bureau).

According to a source in the Home Department, several other junior-level transfers are in the pipeline, but the Home Department is awaiting the final approval from the Election Commission, as some of the officers who would be transferred are currently serving in areas were the code of conduct is in force for the Zilla Parishad elections due on March 11.
