I pursued my graduation through correspondence because I started working at the age of 14. But I have very fond memories of the Auxilium School I went to.
Favourite hangout…
My most favourite hangout was New Yorker’s at Chowpatty beach. My friends and me would wait for months to collect a 100 rupees each. We would be thrilled about going there. I remember our favourite drink was soda lemon ginger pop. Because I was a singer, my friends would sing “soda lemon ginger pop, Raageshwari on the top” and tease me.
Pocket money…
I would get around Rs 50 in two months. On picnic days I would get Rs 50 for a whole day. Everything was so reasonable in those days that we never missed having too much money, yet we valued it.
If I were 18 again…
I was a shy person and was afraid of telling men about my feelings. I used to give them teacher looks. If I were 18 again, I would be much more carefree and not just leave my feelings at the inception stage.
Most memorable moment…
There are actually two. We used to wait to take a bus tour of the city when our exams would get over. I used to really enjoy that. The other is watching the film ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. My brother was strict and didn’t allow me to match movies. I remember we sneaked out to a cinema at Grant Road without telling our elders and were dazzled about the pigeon and Bhagyashree. We were also besotted by Salman Khan.
Lesson learnt…
That there’s so much beauty when you don’t have much and you are not even aware about it. My upbringing was very simple and like all the other rich kids in my school, I didn’t have the fanciest of things. But I was not even aware of what I did not have.
