Dilip Vengsarkar is often remembered as one of the most stylish batsmen of his time in the world of cricket.

Dilip’s wife Manali too brings her own share of chic and refined taste as is obvious in the sense of aesthetics of the jewellery designed by her.

No wonder then that their daughter Pallavi Vengsarkar oozes the same cool confidence in front of the camera. Pallavi is the face that has modelled her mother’s jewellery line. Though this was her first stint in modelling, she appears to be as comfortable and confident as a seasoned model.

“I am in love with the jewellery my mother makes. She asked me on a whim to model some of her jewellery and take a few pictures,” smiles Pallavi. When the pictures came out, Manali was pleasantly surprised at how good they looked and announced that she is going to blow them up and use them on billboards.

“I was more than glad because I thought I would be paid in jewellery which, of course, did not happen,” Pallavi laughs.

When asked if Pallavi harbours any Bollywood aspirations, she says, “I am taller than most Bollywood heroes.” Pallavi surely has the vital statistics of a ramp scorcher. She stands 5’10” tall, but does not wish to pursue modelling as a career. “Not that I am averse to modelling, but right now my priorities are very different. I need to complete my education first.”

This Xavierite is doing her Bachelors degree in Economics and plans to follow it up with a course in Mass Media from London. “I am very interested in journalism and creative writing.” She also intends to use her skills of persuasion and conversation in a career of law.

So, is cricket a hot topic of discussion over the dinner table? “I used to be a big cricket fan earlier. But after dad became the chief of the selection committee, I have stopped watching it altogether. My studies keep me very busy, and now I watch the game only when India plays,” Pallavi says.

“However, I like to watch dad’s old matches whenever they show it on television,” she adds.
