NEW DELHI: Doordarshan got a delayed telecast of the first India-Sri Lanka match on Thursday with Nimbus waiting for the Delhi High Court's 'direction' on the issue as the public broadcaster hoped for live telecast in the wake of government issuing an ordinance.

The matter came up at the High Court this morning, which posted it for later in the afternoon.

The trouble between the two broadcasters left millions of cricket fans in non-cable fans exasperated as they failed to catch live action of the match.

Justice B D Ahmed fixed the hearing for afternoon after Nimbus counsel Mukul Rohatgi and Gopal Jain mentioned the matter before the bench seeking adjournment.

Nimbus had on Wednesday said it would seek the court's direction on the matter before agreeing to share live feed of the match, as mandated by the ordinance issued last week.

However, armed with the ordinance, Prasar Bharati officials insisted that they "have a right" over live feed.
