SRINAGAR: Two persons, including a police official, were killed and three others were injured on Saturday when militants of Lashker-e-Toiba opened fire at a police party in a market in Pampore town of Pulwama district.
Station House Officer of Pampore police station Manzoor Ahmad was shot dead by militants at Kadlabal market in Pampore while he was on a market checking drive on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, officials said.
A civilian identified as Jan Mohammad was also killed in the incident, they said adding three other persons, including two policemen, were injured in the shootout.
Lashker-e-Toiba has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A spokesperson of the outfit told a local newsagency that the SHO was involved in the killing of several of their colleagues.
