Goregaon killers arrested

The police arrested five people on Friday for their alleged involvement in the murder of Goregaon resident Jayshree Ingade.

The police arrested five people on Friday for their alleged involvement in the murder of Goregaon resident Jayshree Ingade, 46, on November 7 in Goregaon (W). The police said that the murder was the result of a land dispute between the assailants and the deceased.

The arrested people have been identified as Gajendra Tiwari, 49, Amarkumar alias Raja Rajendrakumar Singh, 30, Sartaz Mohammad alias Taj Babu Shaikh, 22, Jitendrakumar alias Pappu Munnakumar Valmiki, 25, and Vijay Ganeshprasad Rekwaar, 21. They have been remanded to police custody till December 5.

“Tiwari told us that there was a dispute between the deceased and the accused. He also said he had told the others to kill Ingade,” said assistant police inspector Deepak Phatangde, Goregaon police station.

The deal to kill Ingade was worth Rs3 lakh, of which Tiwari had paid up Rs1.5 lakh; the remaining amount was to be given after the murder. The men stabbed Ingade in her Mukadam Compound home. They also threatened her daughter, Manisha, who later registered a complaint at the Goregaon police station.

“We received specific information about Tiwari,” said deputy commissioner of police Makrand Ranade. Tiwari gave information about his associates. One of them, Singh, had worked as a junior artist in serials and the Shah Rukh Khan movie Main Hoon Na. One Tiwari’s tip-off, the police captured the men at the Goregaon railway station.
