NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is being quizzed by customs officers after a parcel from a man in the Netherlands sent to her former address was found to contain 23,000 euros ($29,500).
The parcel was marked "electronic items" and was opened by authorities during a routine check at a Mumbai post office handling overseas mail.
"It had a white packet containing foreign currency which was not declared. We are trying to establish whether she is aware of it ... or it's done without her knowledge," A K Prasad, a senior customs official, said.
Prasad said the former Miss World had been asked about the parcel, which he added did contain unspecified electronic goods.
