MUMBAI: Three road mishaps claimed the lives of 16 Mumbaikars in a span of 12 hours.
 
On Sunday morning, all five passengers of a Santro car died when it collided with a truck on the Solapur-Pune highway. Four of the victims were members of the Pathanwala family from Dongri. The fifth was their driver.
 
At around the same time in Ratnagiri district, a Qualis in which people from Borivli were travelling was involved in an accident with a bus. Five people died on the spot. Five others were injured.
 
In the third incident, five members of the Desai family from Virar and their driver died when their Mahindra Bolero hit a stationary truck near the Aanewadi toll naka on National Highway 4. Deepak Desai (40), Ranjan Desai (61), Poonam Desai (36), Vinay Desai (13), Vishal Bhussa (31), and their driver were killed. Three others survived.
