KOCHI: Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Friday said his government was viewing "very seriously" the email stating an attempt would be made on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's life during his visit to the state on November 1.

However, there would be no change in the scheduled programme of the Prime Minister, Achutanandan told reporters here.

He said the state police chief was looking into the matter and senior police officials would keep him constantly informed about the progress of investigations in the matter.

On whether a foreign hand was suspected in the matter, Achutanandan said police are looking into all aspects.

Three persons have been taken into custody by police and they are being questioned, police officials said.

The email was reportedly sent from an Internet cafe at Pookaramukh near Padma Junction in the city. The email had been sent to the police chief and the home secretary.
