MUMBAI: Renu Balakrishnan is organizing a creative writing workshop on November 2, 9, 16 and 30, and December 7 and 14, at Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC), here.

Renu has written book reviews and short stories for children and has conducted writing workshops for teachers in schools and colleges.

She has attended a Masters in Education course at Oxford Brookes University, UK, and Creative Writing programmes at the New School, New York. Her interests include releasing the creative spirit in people.

“The workshop attempts to realize the writer in each of us. It will help people who want to improve their creative writing skills in writing fiction and nonfiction,’’ Renu said.

Session 1: Story structure in fiction and nonfiction writing - Complication/Resolution; Session 2: Plot; Session 3: Narrative Design and Voice; Session 4: Character and Dialogue; Session 5: Setting; Session 6: Tips on Writing by a Published Author
