DURBAN: South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has said he would not be "distracted" by the interrogation scheduled by the Delhi police in match-fixing scandal during his India visit to play in the upcoming Champions Trophy.

"I don't think it will be a distraction at all because it will only take a day to sort everything out," Gibbs said.

"There will then be another three days before our first match against New Zealand, so that will leave me enough time to focus on the cricket," Gibbs was quoted as saying by the Bigstarcricket.com.

South Africa, who won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 1998, then called 'Wills International Cup', play New Zealand in their first match in Mumbai on October 16.

Gibbs, who has not visited India fearing arrest after 2000 when he was banned for six months for his involvement in match-fixing, has agreed to meet the police to sort out the issue for once and for all.

"I have a copy of the questions they want to ask. It's the same old stuff that I answered six years ago plus one or two others," he said.

"We can only speculate on what is going to happen, but it's definitely time to lay this issue to rest."

Gibbs has admitted accepting 11,180 pounds from former captain Hansie Cronje to score less than 20 runs against India in a one-day international series in 2000.  He subsequently scored 74, and said he had forgotten about his deal, but was suspended and fined.
