Although actor Gulshan Grover is clear about not doing any television shows, he has agreed to feature in the new season of ‘MTV Roadies 4’ (MTV India). Gulshan reasons, “It is similar to judging a TV show.  I was flattered when I was told that the youth in the country connect with me in a big way. Otherwise, I do not do any television shows.”

Gulshan explains why he has stayed away from TV. “Working for television requires a lot of talent. You have to work at great speed and give minimal retakes. I salute television actors for this. I felt the show would help me understand what today’s youth is all about.”  Incidentally, the adventure show tests the mettle of a young group travelling across the country on bikes and facing gruelling situations.

Gulshan’s affinity with the youth also stems from the fact that he has a 20-year-old-son. “Being a single parent, it’s  a constant effort to understand what makes the young tick. The show gives me that opportunity.”  Gulshan was offered TV shows before too. He says, “I was approached by 20th Century Fox to feature in a TV series on ‘Jungle Book’. But I didn’t want to do it.”

The  actor is however open to theatre. He reveals, “I was offered an interesting part in ‘The Far Pavilions’ but I couldn’t do it because of my film engagements. I hope to do theatre some day.”
