Malegaon blasts toll 31, clarifies Patil

The Maharashtra government on Saturday revised the toll in the Malegaon blasts to 31 from 37, saying it had included some persons who had died in other incidents.

MALEGAON: The Maharashtra government on Saturday revised the toll in the Malegaon blasts to 31 from 37, saying it had included some persons who had died in other incidents.
 
Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil clarified that he was given a figure that had included some deaths in incidents not related to the blasts.
 
The 31 dead include six women and 10 children, he told reporters here.
 
He also said a total of 297 persons were injured, including 31 women and 146 children. The injuries include severe to minor scratches, he added.
 
Ninety-five persons are undergoing treatment at hospitals and the others have been discharged, he said.
