Militant escapes from court in J&K

Mohammad Altaf Malik was brought to the Sessions Court for hearing in the case related to the killing of IRCON engineer Sudhir Kumar last year.

SRINAGAR: A militant brought to Pulwama court for hearing of a case escaped from police custody on Thursday after his accomplice threw a grenade in the premises, injuring a constable in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Mohammad Altaf Malik, brought to the Sessions Court for hearing in the case related to the killing of IRCON engineer Sudhir Kumar last year, escaped from the district court premises, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir S M Sahai informed.

 

Another militant, who was waiting outside the court premises, threw a grenade creating panic which allowed Malik to flee. Constable Ghulam Qadir was also injured in the blast.

 

A massive hunt has been launched to nab the two militants, official sources said.
