Prof's murder: ABVP Secy's remand extended

UJJAIN: Police remand of Madhya Pradesh ABVP Secretary Vimal Tomar was extended till September 4 while  its President Shashiranjan Akela sent to 15-day judicial custody on Saturday by a court in Prof H S Sabharwal murder case.

Both the ABVP leaders, earlier remanded to police custody till Saturday after their arrest on August 31, were produced before judicial magistrate first class R S Madia.

Akela and Tomar had initially surrendered to police on August 30 in connection with the alleged manhandling of Prof M L Nath during student union elections at Madhav College here that were cancelled following complaints of irregularities.

They were formally arrested later by CID and booked for for the murder of Prof Sabharwal, who died after an attack by students.
