Three workers at Narora nuke plant arrested

LUCKNOW: Three men working in the canteen of Narora atomic power plant in Bulandshahr have been arrested for allegedly giving fake addresses at the time of their appointment.

 

The men, who were recently employed by the contractor running the canteen, had given a local address as their permanent address. Police, while conducting a verification, found they were residents of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary R M Srivastav said.

 

A case for giving false addresses has been filed against the trio -- Jaan Mohammed, Shakir and Wasim Ahmed -- at Narora police station and investigations are on, Srivastav said.

 

Security at nuclear facilities across the country was stepped up last week in the run up to the Independence Day celebrations following reports that terrorists might target these institutions. The armed forces were given the responsibility of securing these facilities and NSG commandoes were deployed at many nuclear plants.
