KOLKATA: An alert was sounded at the NSC Bose international airport on Tuesday following an anonymous call claiming a bomb had been planted in a Kolkata-bound Bangladesh Biman flight which landed shortly after 4.40 pm from Dhaka.

The plane, carrying 68 passengers, was taken to the isolation bay immediately after it touched down.

The entire airport was under a state of emergency. Security personnel cordoned off the aircraft with CISF and fire-brigade personnel taking up position.

Airport sources said the airport customs received a call that a bomb had been planted in the aircraft.

The officials said the passengers were evacuated from the aircraft and taken to the international terminal building.

Airports Authority of India Director V K Monga said all the passengers were safe.

"Checking of the interior of the aircraft by bomb squad personnel, CISF and police has started," he said. The baggage of the passengers too was checked.

Operations of other flights from the airport were normal.
