Kalam's 'hate-mailer' gets 14 days judicial custody

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old student who hit headlines for allegedly e-mailing a death threat to President A P J Abdul Kalam was on Saturday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a city court.

Sulabh Goyal was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini after a day's police custody, Goyal had allegedly sent the mail on July 19 from an Internet cafe in Indore after creating a new ID. He was arrested at Indore on July 26 and handed over to the Delhi Police Special Cell.

He was reportedly miffed over the fact that an NGO 'Sulabh International' had used his name for public conveniences managed by it.

He had then requested the President via mail to intervene on his behalf and convince the organisation to remove his name from their hoardings, the prosecution had said.

On receiving no reply, the youth had sent the mail, giving the President an ultimatum of three days to approach the organisation on his behalf, it had added.
